‘When Saul saw how capable and successful David was, he stood in awe of him. (I Samuel 18: 15)
Saul was in awe of David because he observed David’s love for all the people he met. And as he studied David’s behavior, Saul decided that he would not and could not lay a hand on David. As I studied this text on this Sunday evening , I was reminded of an experience recorded in Exodus 34: 29 which says, “When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, he did not know that the skin of his face shone and sent forth beams by reason of his speaking with the Lord.” When the Israelites saw Moses, they were in “awe” for they knew that Moses had been with God.
In both the case of Moses and David, people were not in awe because of who these men were, it was because of WHO was in them.
The fact is that Moses and David didn’t have to tell anyone that they were Christians or that they had been with God , you could see it on their face and that said it all.
Does any one stand in awe of us today because of WHO is with us!
