On this Sunday evening as I was reflecting personally on my relationship with a God whom I have learned to trust, I saw our helper carrying food to feed our two dogs Asher and Casper.
These two are dependent and rely on us for everything. Everyday at 5 p.m they wait for their food. Why? Because of their trust in us they know that their food will arrive though at times their supply is little delayed due to circumstances!
Actually when the lockdown began I panicked about their food supply since both the dogs are used to two different brands of food. But they don’t spend the day worrying if we are going to feed them. In fact right now they are in perfect peace relaxing in the yard after their meal unconcerned about what might happen tomorrow!
These pets are a lot like young children with loving parents who are not fearful for they trust they are in the protective care of those who love them.
But unlike these pets, when we go through the storm of life’s trials, pain of broken relationship or unanswered prayer or a dream that is dashed to pieces, we may toss everything up and ask the question how can I trust a God who has let me down? Believe me you are not alone! There were times I have found myself at the bottom of my spiritual life thinking that no one could be trusted – not even my Father in heaven.
And to think that our heavenly Father cares for us even more than earthly parents care for their children or for their pets. It is this knowledge and understanding of our Father, as revealed in His word which gives us the confidence to rely on the One who promises to be trustworthy forever.
Are you going through the pain of depression? Worried about tomorrow? Unanswered prayers? Let me encourage you to trust Him and His Word as young children trust their parents without doubt or fear!
He is truly Trustworthy!
I will say to the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him will I trust.
