On this Sunday the approach of Advent brought a joyful hope as our Pastor preached on the theme ‘ Joyful Expectation of Christ’s coming’. Neither the Pandemic nor the Storm could suppress the joyful hope!
Did I say Joyful hope? what is it? Hope is to wish for something with the expectation of its fulfillment.
I Pet 1:4 says ‘To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you’.
A few years ago we took our little grandson Zac to to the nearby supermarket. He sat on the trolly as we pushed him around. When we came to the side where his favorite goodies were placed, suddenly he wanted to be lifted and said ‘carry me, please patti ma carry me’.
I was wondering why? Then I realized he wanted to look at the goodies that were placed on the higher row. As I lifted him up, he was all smiles when his eyes caught the colorful goodies on the window!
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel just like my little grand son! I am too tiny to grasp what my big God has in reserve for me. I am too short sighted to see His far off plans. I am too immature to understand His purpose in my life.
So like my Zac, I yank on my Father’s arm and say Please….Please Father let ….me…. see!
May I ask you, What is it you are hoping for this Christmas?
Are you hoping for the strength to just make it through the day!
Are you just hoping to put one foot in front of the other!
For someone else, you may be hoping for healing in a relationship with a family member that seems crushed beyond repair!
For another, your hope may be to come out of the financial tangle you face!
Whatever we face today, we must not be so lost in the earthly problems that will prevent us to be inspired by the hope of heaven.
Like a little child, with open arms ask the heavenly Father to show all the goodies in store for you as you wait in joyful hope!
Have a Joyful and Hopeful Advent season!
